The Soar Tennis Academy is committed to helping players of all ages and skill levels advance in their enjoyment of the game of tennis as well as in their ability to perform it at a higher level. We primarily offer group drills while also offering the chance to set up private/small group lessons if desired. Finally, it is our goal to utilize the game of tennis to develop men and women of strong character and advanced skill who excel in all areas of life.
Meet Matt, Our Founder
Matt Swigart is a USPTA certified teaching pro, and has been coaching and teaching tennis since 2013 as the Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach at the University of Northwestern - St. Paul where he has become UNW's all time winningest tennis coach. Along with leading the teams Matt also has run summer tennis camps on campus for students of all ages.
Other coaching accomplishments include winning 4 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championships, earning 3 NCAA National Tournament berths and 2 NCCAA National Tournaments. His teams have won 5 UMAC Sportsmanship Awards. In that time 57 UNW players have been named UMAC All-Conference, 7 have been named UMAC Player of the Year and 15 have earned NCCAA All-American honors. Finally, he has been named UMAC Coach of the Year 4 times.
Coach Matt is excited to launch the Soar Tennis Academy as it is another avenue to leverage his background as a player, coach and youth pastor and will allow him and his team of coaches to effectively leverage teaching the game of tennis to invest in young men and women who grow in skill and character.
Coach Courtney Roe
Courtney Roe is the Head Girls Tennis coach at New Life Academy where she is in her second year as a middle school math teacher. In 2019 she served as the Assistant Girls Coach and she now has been promoted to Head Coach! Courtney has been playing tennis since high school and played for Matt Swigart during her college years at Northwestern.
Coach Courtney is excited to invest in players of all ages to help improve their tennis skills along with building excellent character. She loves working with students and has a passion for building up the future generations into hard workers who are willing to impact the world with positive change.
Coach Bryna Eigenfeld
Bryna is very excited to be a coach at Soar Tennis Academy! She is the #1 singles player and team captain at New Life Academy where she has been on the varsity team since 7th grade. Working hard, never giving up and showing strong character all describe her and she hopes to pass all those thing on to those she coaches.
Coach Adam Ryerse
Adam grew up in Woodbury, MN and was a key player for East Ridge High School's tennis team. He is currently attending the University of Northwestern - St. Paul where he will be in his second year on the team .Adam is a high character, high energy person and player. He is excited to get to know all the players and help them develop a love for the game of tennis and enjoyment in playing it together. When not on court Adam can be found working at Best Buy or spending time with his family on their ski boat on the St. Croix river!
Coach Jessica Gross
Jessica grew up in Woodbury, MN and was the #1 singles player for New Life Academy. She now attends the University of Northwestern - St. Paul where she will be a senior captain. She shares that, "Tennis has taught me so many invaluable lessons over the years and I love to watch other people grow in this sport that I love. I’m excited to help the students improve at tennis but also to watch their character develop on the court!" Clearly her love for the game and for people is evident! Jessica is a great addition to the Soar Tennis Academy team!!
